Howard Zinn: A True American Hero

zinn

R.I.P Howard Zinn . I had the honor of working with Howard after I got out of jail for protesting the 1990 Gulf War. With a grant in hand from Harper Collins and a script from activist screen writer Marvin Gluck we conspired together to do a multi-media adaptation of Peoples' History. We got it through pre-production but got sidelined because we didn't have enough of a track record to keep the big bucks coming in. 20 years later what we tried to do was accomplished by Matt Damon and the History Channel . Howard was a terrific human being. Give my best to Roslyn! Howard Zinn-presente!!

Northwoods Peace Initiative (We're Not Dead Yet) February 4
Dear Peacemakers,

This one has been a long time coming. Without going into details, let's just say we've been on a sabbatical of sorts and now it is time to sort out the BIG MESS we seem to have gotten ourselves into. So here we are, a year into "change we can believe in",  and it all seems to have fallen a bit short.  If anything, Obama is setting himself up for a big fall by assuring us, at the state of the Union, that the big banks had to be saved for the good of the country and that the worst is now behind us-- NOT!!  We are witnessing nothing short of the fall of the American Century. Unfortunately, the world has become so technically and psychically entangled that it is impossible for one country to fail without the rest of the world being seriously impacted.  Iceland was the first to go, Dubai gave markets a good scare (until their big brother Abu Dhabi threw them a life line), and the PIIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Spain) who are approaching default sized debts roiled markets today.  As they say, if the US sneezes, the world gets pneumonia, if the US falls it's all over but the crying.

If I Can't Sing I Don't Want to be Part of Your Revolution

The farm band is back in the studio.  We have seven songs in the can and a bunch more in the pipeline.  We are hoping to have a CD ready to go for fund raising in a couple of months. Years ago we were the movement band of choice singing at demonstrations, rallies, fund raisers, events, and just for fun. We are hoping to do more of the same now. If you need music for an event let us know.

If you want to audition the band (Relative Minor- because we are all related and a minor, little band) go to Neil Young's website Living With War Today. We are currently ranked 24 out of 3000 songs. The more you get listened to the more you move up the charts. Click on our song (Shovelin' Shit) which will take you to our band website.  Enjoy.

Diary of a Cyber Bedouin 3/6/2010

Every day here sees new injustices and no one escapes them. On Wednesday, my wife, I, and a graduate student drove up to Salfit area where my student is doing a master's thesis on the impact of the Burqan Industrial settlements on the health of the Palestinian villagers.  The Israeli industrial settlement dumps daily hundreds of cubic meters of industrial waste water laden with heavy metals and other chemicals down into the valley where residents of Brukeen breath air, use the fields for raising crops and feeding their animals.  This pollution of private lands has been going on for years. For summary on this area See http://www.poica.org/editor/case_studies/view.php?recordID=1161
